As a Grapevine roofing contractor, we regularly encounter roof damage when conducting an annual inspection that home and business owners had no idea was there. Most of the time these are not large points of interest, but small problems only get bigger over time and exposure to the elements.
The last thing you need or want is an unforeseen leak!!!
Frequently there will be clues on your roof before a leak happens, so here are 4 things to watch out for:
- Curled, Broken, Missing Shingles
When the shingles of a roof begin to curl or the edges start to buckle, it means they are nearing the end of their life and will be more prone to blow-off. - Worn-Off Shingle Granules
When shingles start to break down and degrade the granules will start to wear away and will usually end up in your gutters after a heavy rainstorm. Depending on how much has worn away you may need to replace your roof. However, a repair could also buy you some time. A Grapevine roofing professional will be able to advise you on the best thing to do for your specific situation. - Damaged Flashing
Chimneys, vent pipes, a/c units, and other objects have flashing installed around them to keep water out. If you see any wear and tear, or loose flashing it should be repaired ASAP. - Sagging Ceiling & Rafters
Examine your attic for water intrusion and sagging in the rafters or plywood. If you identify any of these warning signs call a Grapevine Roofer to inspect it immediately.
